Daal Tarka
Ingredients
150 grams of chana dal
50 grams of moong dal
50 grams of masoor dal
3 cloves of garlic
1 onion
1 tablespoon of grated ginger
1 tomato
1 chopped green chili
1 tablespoon of chopped cilantro
1 teaspoon of cumin
3 chopped red chilies
1 teaspoon of turmeric
1 teaspoon of ground coriander
1 teaspoon of ground cilantro
4 tablespoons of oil
1 tablespoon of salt
Preparation
Step 1 : To prepare the dal, first wash the chana dal and moong dal, and soak them in water for half an hour.
Step 2 : Then, wash the masoor dal and set aside.
Step 3 : Next, transfer the legumes to a pot, cover them with water, add half a teaspoon of turmeric and salt, and cook until the water boils.
Step 4 : While the legumes cook, chop the onion, garlic, and tomato.
Step 5 : In a high-heat skillet with a bit of oil, add cumin and chopped red chili.
Step 6 : When they start to crackle, add the onion, garlic, ginger, and chopped green chili.
Step 7 : Lower the heat and keep stirring.
Step 8 : Then, add the chopped tomato, turmeric, ground coriander, and cilantro powder, mixing everything well.
Step 9 : Next, add the cooked legumes to the skillet, season with salt, and cook for about 6 minutes.
Step 10 : Add chopped fresh cilantro, mix, and remove from heat.
Step 11 : Transfer the mixture to a bowl.
Step 12 : In a skillet, heat oil and add a garlic clove sliced, cumin, and chopped red chili.
Step 13 : Let them brown and then remove from heat.
Step 14 : Pour this mixture over the reserved dal and serve.
