Dal ki Kachori

Dal ki Kachori are fried snacks filled with lentils, popular during Hindu festivals. The dough is made with flour, carambola seeds, and butter, filled with a mixture of urad dal, spices, and herbs. They are fried until golden and served with chutney and cilantro.

Ingredients

1 cup of Wheat flour

1 tablespoon of Salt

1 teaspoon of Fenugreek powder

2 teaspoons of Carambola seeds

2 teaspoons of Butter

2 cups of Oil

1 teaspoon of Cumin

1 teaspoon of Baking soda

1 cup of Water

1 tablespoon of Urad dal

1 teaspoon of Milled fennel seeds

1 teaspoon of Coriander powder

1 teaspoon of Ground chili

Preparation

Step 1 : In a bowl, place the flour, carambola seeds, salt, and 2 tablespoons of butter.

Step 2 : Add water and knead until you get a soft dough.

Step 3 : Cover the dough and let it rest for 20 minutes.

Step 4 : Wash and soak the urad dal for 15 minutes.

Step 5 : Then, drain the urad dal and process until forming a fine paste.

Step 6 : Add the carambola seeds, ground chili, coriander powder, fennel seeds, cumin, salt, fenugreek, and baking soda.

Step 7 : Mix well and add water to combine all ingredients.

Step 8 : Turn off the heat and let it rest.

Step 9 : Divide the dough into portions to form balls.

Step 10 : Make a hole in the middle of each ball to fill it.

Step 11 : Place the filling in the center and close the balls.

Step 12 : Heat oil in a pan and fry the kachoris until golden.

Step 13 : Serve with your favorite chutney and chopped cilantro.
