To prepare these delicious gujiyas, the flour is mixed with butter until a homogeneous dough is achieved.
Then, water is added gradually to reach the proper consistency, the dough is covered and left to rest.
While the dough rests, the coconut is toasted in a skillet until it changes color and set aside.
Next, a syrup is prepared with water and sugar; the ingredients are added and cooled.
Once ready, the empanadas are filled and fried until golden.

Gujiya
Ingredients

500 grams of Flour
6 tablespoons of Butter
1 cup of Grated coconut
500 grams of Sugar
500 milliliters of Water
200 grams of Raisins
100 grams of Cashews
100 grams of Sliced almonds
1 teaspoon of Ground cardamom
1 tablespoon of Oil
Preparation
Step 1 : To prepare these delicious gujiyas, start by mixing the flour with the butter until a homogeneous dough is formed.
Step 2 : Then, add water gradually until the proper consistency is achieved; cover the dough with a cloth and let it rest.
Step 3 : While the dough rests, toast the coconut in a hot skillet until it changes color and set aside.
Step 4 : Next, in a saucepan, mix water and sugar and cook until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Step 5 : Add the toasted coconut, raisins, cashews, almonds, and cardamom to the sugar syrup and remove from heat to cool.
Step 6 : Once the mixture is ready, divide the dough into portions and form balls, flatten them to make flat circles.
Step 7 : Place a spoonful of the prepared filling in the center of each circle and carefully seal the empanadas by closing the edges.
Step 8 : Then, heat oil in a skillet and fry the gujiyas until golden.
Step 9 : Once they are done, remove from the oil and place on absorbent paper to remove excess oil.
Step 10 : Finally, the gujiyas are ready to be served and enjoyed.
