Meen Pollichatu
Ingredients
2 whole pieces of fish
1 teaspoon of ground turmeric
1 teaspoon of ground black pepper
1 teaspoon of ground chili
1 lemon
1 tablespoon of coconut oil
3 teaspoons of salt
1 cup of oil for frying
10 chopped onions
3 chopped garlic cloves
1 tablespoon of grated ginger
1 chopped green chili without seeds
3 curry leaves
2 chopped tomatoes
1 teaspoon of turmeric
1 teaspoon of coriander powder
2 banana leaves
2 twine for tying
2 tablespoons of oil
Preparation
Step 1 : Clean the fish, remove the heads, and make side cuts.
Step 2 : Then set aside.
Step 3 : In a bowl, mix ground turmeric, black pepper, ground chili, oil, and lemon juice.
Step 4 : Paint this mixture over the fish, add salt, and sprinkle with masala.
Step 5 : Let it rest in the refrigerator for an hour.
Step 6 : Heat oil in a pan and fry the fish on both sides.
Step 7 : Place on absorbent paper and set aside.
Step 8 : In another pan with medium heat and hot oil, sauté chopped onions until soft.
Step 9 : Add ginger, garlic, green chili, and curry leaves.
Step 10 : Cook for about 3 minutes.
Step 11 : Add tomatoes and cook until soft.
Step 12 : Then add turmeric, coriander powder, ground chili, salt, and a bit of water.
Step 13 : Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and cook for 2 more minutes before removing from heat.
Step 14 : Slightly dry the banana leaves over the flame.
Step 15 : Fill the center with the masala mixture and place the fish on top.
Step 16 : Close and tie with twine.
Step 17 : In a pan with 2 tablespoons of hot oil, cook the packages for 5 minutes on each side.
Step 18 : Finally, serve.
