Matar Paneer is a classic Indian dish with spices, paneer cheese, and peas, representing the rich cuisine of India. Its preparation requires care in the process of cooking and combining the ingredients to achieve its characteristic flavor full of aroma.
The paneer is cut into cubes and set aside.
A mixture of yogurt, cumin, turmeric, and salt is prepared and mixed with the paneer, marinating for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
Later, onions and green chilies are sautéed in oil until golden, and the diced tomatoes are added.
The spice mixture is added and cooked over low heat for a few minutes until the flavors meld.
Matar Paneer
Ingredients
250 grams of paneer
1 cup of boiled peas
1 tablespoon of olive oil
1 onion
2 tablespoons of grated ginger
3 garlic cloves
4 tomatoes
2 cups of vegetable broth
3 tablespoons of coconut milk
1 teaspoon of turmeric
1 teaspoon of cumin
2 teaspoons of garam masala
1 teaspoon of ground cilantro
2 chilies
1 tablespoon of sugar
1 tablespoon of salt
1 teaspoon of pepper
1 teaspoon of chopped fresh cilantro
300 grams of paneer
Preparation
Step 1 : The tomatoes are washed and boiled in water for one minute.
Step 2 : Then removed, plunged into cold water, and peeled.
Step 3 : Meanwhile, the onion is peeled and chopped, then processed with water and ginger to form a paste, which is set aside.
Step 4 : In a medium saucepan, heat oil over medium heat and add the onion-ginger paste, cooking for 5 to 6 minutes.
Step 5 : Next, process the tomatoes and add them to a pot with sugar, cooking for another 3 to 4 minutes.
Step 6 : Then add the spices, salt, and pepper, stirring and cooking for another two minutes.
Step 7 : Add vegetable broth, coconut milk, and chilies, stirring until combined, and simmer on low heat for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Step 8 : Next, add the peas and paneer, cooking for another two minutes.
Step 9 : Finally, remove from heat and serve garnished with chopped cilantro.
